Before Roman's never look good down in my opinion, but look stunning up with their lovely folds, very affordable window option. The usual option would be large slat wooden blinds , which don't often look finished alone but need some sort of side panel to complete the look, in tight spaces like this so close to a fireplace and sliding doors ,drapes would have been over kill here.

After New roman's for the family room, they were functional , they just needed a facelift.
